Description
This bundle of 40 mini lessons includes everything teachers need to provide engaging instruction of kindergarten phonics skills in small groups. There are detailed lesson plans, multiple games, student activity pages, and assessment check lists with if/then menus to help you see exactly where your students are thriving or where they need more support.
This bundle includes two resources, the Phonics Small Groups Set 1 and Set 2. Each set focuses on specific standards within the Common Core Reading : Foundational Skills strand. You will find instruction on a variety of skills including:
- Letter ID
- Sequencing of letters in words
- Syllables
- Rhyming words
- Blending and segmenting of words including onset and rime
- Isolating sounds in CVC words
- Substituting sounds in words
- Letter sound correspondence
- Short vowel sounds
- Deleting and substituting letters in words to make new words
- Recognizing beginning blends
Some of these skills focus on phonological awareness, meaning you do not have to use the visuals provided. If using the visuals, you are teaching phonics skills. Be sure to include some phonological/phonemic awareness instruction in your day either by using this resource without visuals or using another type of activity.
