This 40-page mini unit has everything you need to get your students reading two syllable words with open syllables, such as donut and spider. When dividing a word with an open syllable (syllables with a long vowel sound not followed by a consonant), students will divide after the vowel and before the first consonant, like in ro/bot and tu/lip. This product will help students recognize that these types of words are made up of two syllables that can be decoded using previously taught skills.
