Phonics definitions as Bookmarks (for letter size paper)

Often parents and carers are looking for definitions of words used in phonics when children are reading their school reading books. As educators we often use words such as phonemes, graphemes, blending, segmenting etc. and expect people who help with reading to comprehend this jargon. The bookmarks give definitions of words that will help them understand phonics terminology, give them confidence when children use the words which will lead to a more effective reading experience and therefore better learning.

They could be laminated back-to back and sent home with children's reading books and become a useful resource for reading at home. I would suggest the first 2 bookmarks for parents and carers of very young readers and the other 2 for slightly older students, but you can combine them in other ways too. I am going to add more bookmarks in my TpT shortly so please follow me if you are interested.

Bookmarks are in black and white and color/ colour to give more printing options and added interest. There are also examples of bookmarks for people who may find reading tricky - I have used recommendations of the British Dyslexia Association and a font that is specifically designed for people with Dyslexia - you will find these in the latter part of the resource.
