Phonics flash cards are a really useful resource, but many that are around serve only one phase of teaching. These cards covers all 44 sounds in the English language and most of the alternate spellings for those sounds
These cards provide a clear link to both the Letters and Sounds phase structure and the Montessori colour scheme (simple vowel sounds - blue, consonant sounds - red and compound vowel sounds - green)
Each card contains an example word in the top corner giving the sound in context; the letters and sounds phase (to allow for easier sorting and grouping for teaching); and alternate grapheme phoneme correspondences, for those early writers and children volunteering words containing the correct sound but different spelling.
The /y/ grapheme is included twice, once as a vowel sound (mystery) and once as consonant sound (yellow), consistent with the Montessori approach introducing it as a pseudo-vowel.
