Do you have students who struggle with phonological awareness or cluster reduction in speech therapy? If so, then this product will help them practice the skill of counting the number of sounds in words. Some students, especially those with a weakness in phonological processes, such as syllable reduction, stopping, cluster reduction, and final consonant deletion, will benefit from this activity. This product is also perfect for students with dyslexia, since it is a visual and kinesthetic activity. This low prep product includes a total of 160 cards (60 /s/, 48 /l/, and 52 /r/), with 3-, 4-, and 5-sound words. This product can be used as a teaching tool, or, with its self-check feature, it can be easily added to literacy centers. Simply print, cut on the dotted lines, and laminate. Then, you will be ready to allow your students to speak the given words (with corresponding picture) and circle the number of sounds with a dry erase marker. The provided self-check feature will allow students to refer to the categorized (one page for /s/ blends; one page for /r/ blends; one page for /l/ blends) list to check their accuracy and build their self confidence.
