Phonological Awareness is the ability to recognize and work with sounds in spoken language. There are a group of skills included such as, sound awareness, word awareness, segmenting words, rhyming words, listen to and matching initial sounds…etc. These skills set the foundation for learning to read.
Are words that have the same beginning sounds. Students learn this skill by listening to a group of words and naming the words that begin with the same sound. I se the poster included in this set to introduce the skill.
I hope you enjoy using these “Initial Sound Strips” picture cards with your students. This was designed to be used by teachers. I use these with my Pre-k class.
I recommend printing these on cardstock, laminating and then cutting before using them with your class. I use clothes pins. Students clip the two pictures that begin with same sound.
Included in this download:
14 strips included(Aa - Zz except X)
