Write the word on the yellow line. Students will color in the vowels they see in the word, the number of vowel SOUNDS in the word, and the number of syllables in the word. (Students will realize over time that the number of vowel sounds and number of syllables are always the same!) Then they'll produce a rhyming word, and re-write the word in syllable boxes, writing vowels in red.
This printable is suitable for a class activity, a Center, homework, or a test. It's ideal for dyslexics but will benefit all students. **Recommendation**: Laminate this sheet for daily use and supply students with skinny dry erase markers so they don't run out of room when writing in the boxes.
