SMART Board Lesson
I complete these lessons as a whole-group circle time once per month with both my peers and my IEP students in the classrooms. Each set is created with an SLP script that will help give you a base to work with. Feel free to be flexible with your lesson to meet the needs of your students. I find it important to have the teachers and paraprofessionals also join at circle time and watch the lesson. I model visual and verbal cues during the lesson and this allows the teachers to carryover those cues for the rest of the year. Each lesson usually takes me 20-25 minutes during a circle time.
An introduction introduces the SLP. Next, the learning target is explained. This lesson includes link to a Youtube video. Since there are no available premade lessons about phonological processes, the links coordinate to phonics lessons about the letter or activity. This really engages our students and allows us to use the phonics lesson as a starting place. The next page utilizes minimal pairs to emphasize the importance of the targeted sound. Lastly, a learning game is included. Each phonology set includes a different theme so that students have the chance to get up and get involved in the lesson. The Syllable Reduction lesson is Family Dinner themed. It can be used at any time in the year but works especially great during November and December.
This program will only work with the SMART Notebook compatible program. You will need an unzipping program to open the file.
