I use this as my sponge/bell ringer/opening activity on most days. I ask students to analyze a picture that I have selected as my desktop background (which gives me time to take attendance and do other tasks) then they answer a few questions about the photo before we start our general discussion on the topic. My students love interpreting the pictures I select for them and like the activity because the questions are open-ended opinion questions (it is almost impossible for a student to give a poor answer to them).
