Writing Prompts and Conversation Starters for morning work or literacy centers every Friday for the WHOLE YEAR!
I made this resource because the students in my class struggled to use inference in their reading and writing. Their writing was lacking depth and they didn’t know how to make it more interesting. As a part of morning work, I introduced “Photo Friday” where students practiced using using their inference skills to describe a picture.
To start with I would copy the PDF page using snipping tool into an interactive whiteboard document and we brainstormed around the picture all the possible ideas we could think of. After a couple of weeks students began doing this themselves. We then worked on how to use these inferences in a sentence that painted a picture in the readers mind. There are many ways to use this package and I have also included a free writing template to go through the above steps for FREE!!
This package really improved my students writing and I hope it helps your students too.
Every Friday show students a crazy photo where they have to be detectives and infer what they believe is, has or about to happen.
Use this PDF on the interactive whiteboard as a writing prompt or conversation starter during morning work or literacy centers.
Ways to use:
