This 150 page PowerPoint can be used as warm-ups for a photography class. The presentation contains slides of images by famous historical and contemporary photographers. Each photographer includes at least one photo of their work and a slide that has information and facts about the photographer and some of their work. Some of the slides also have questions that students answer after completing their notes. The questions are mostly about how the photographer used an Element or Principle of Design in the photograph. You can add to these questions as necessary. A few of the slides also include a link to a YouTube video about the photographer or one of their photo series. The PowerPoint can be added to and photographers can be expanded upon. Some of the photographers include: Erik Johansson, Annie Leibovitz, Cindy Sherman, Stephen Shore, Harold Edgerton, Brian Ulrich, and Martin Klimas. In my classroom, I used this warm-up at the beginning of each week. Students completed Cornell Notes while I would talk about the photographer. Because this is a PowerPoint, you can easily adjust the notes, images, to the needs of the activity.
