This unit contains 8 different PowerPoints I use in my Intro to Photography class. The emphasis in the class is on the use of creativity and the practice of Photography as a form of art.
The way I structure this semester-long course is as follows:
Each unit is 2 weeks long (so 16 weeks total). I begin each 2-week unit with a PowerPoint explaining what the unit is about (for example: Food Photography) and give an overview of that type of photography (with lots of examples). Over the next 1-1.5 weeks, students receive free time in class to take photos, edit, etc. After the first week and a half, students must submit 7-10 FINAL, beautiful, edited photos to me. We then spend the last 2-3 days of the unit (depending on the size of the class) having a class critique of each of the students' photos and discuss what works and doesn't work in each of the photos. This can be a little intimidating at first for the students, but they eventually come to love seeing each other's photos and the positive peer pressure encourages them to take the best photos they can. It is also a great way teach students about different design elements and composition rules.
I have had incredible results with my students in this class. It is amazing to see their creativity. This bundle includes PowerPoints for the following 8 units. I typically do them in the order listed, but you can customize it in any way you'd like!
