In this lesson, students turn themselves into Jedi (or Sith)! Students start with a photo of themselves either holding an object that looks like the handle of a lightsaber or holding an actual toy lightsaber and then manipulate the blade of their futuristic sword so that it glows a color of their choice. Along the way they learn such useful Photoshop tools/techniques as creating layers, zooming, changing brushes, working with paths, using filters, editing layer styles, and more. The end result is an image that is visually awesome that was created while they learned! Students will have a great time posing for photos and using their new talent to liven up any photo (just search Google for 'Animals with lightsabers' to see what I'm talking about).
This lesson assumes students have never used Photoshop. A file is included which gives some hints and tips for buying/creating toy lightsabers that can be used during the photo portion of the tutorial. Instructions are written for Photoshop CS3, but can be easily adjusted for use with any version of the software. Offered in .docx format to allow you to edit and personalize the instructions to meet the needs of your class/course.
Don't bother with poorly written tutorials on the Internet that you can't edit - download, modify, and use this lesson with your students today! Enjoy!
