Description
Looking for an engaging and creative way to assess students' understanding of photosynthesis? The Photosynthesis Activities - Student Choice Project empowers students by giving them a choice in a creative project-based assessment. Through project-based learning, students are tasked with demonstrating their understanding of photosynthesis in a creative & engaging way – that they choose. The scaffolds included in this resource were created with English Langauge Learners and developing readers and writers in mind. Therefore, all students can create grade-level science content with the right support!

NGSS:
MS-LS1-6. Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence for the role of photosynthesis in the cycling of matter and flow of energy into and out of organisms.
LS1.C: Organization for Matter and Energy Flow in Organisms
Plants, algae (including phytoplankton), and many microorganisms use the energy from light to make sugars (food) from carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and water through the process of photosynthesis, which also releases oxygen. These sugars can be used immediately or stored for growth or later use. (MS-LS1-6)
LS2.A: Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems
Organisms, and populations of organisms, are dependent on their environmental interactions both with other living things and with nonliving factors. (MS-LS2-1)
CCSS: RST.6-8.4, WHST.6-8.2.D, WHST.6-8.
