This simple activity can be used in 5th through 8th grades. It includes a student worksheet, student directions, and a step by step teacher's guide and answer key).
The student worksheet can be colored and represents the process of photosynthesis. It also has the chemical equation for photosynthesis, places to count atoms, and room to add the coefficients.
You have the option of using Skittles or M&Ms to represent individual atoms of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. (Candy is not included in the purchase of this worksheet.)
This is a fun way to learn the process of photosynthesis and introduce how to balance chemical equations. I will be using this in my friend's 5th Grade classroom as well as my own 7th Grade Life Science and 8th Grade Physical Science classes.
