Students will explore Greek and Latin roots and affixes to create an original phobia! With this activity, they will play around with point-of-view by writing from the perspective of someone who has the phobia they created and then illustrating it.
Either have them explore G&L roots from a list, or bump up the challenge by having student come up with the phobia first, and then research the etymology to find the Greek or Latin root themselves.
I used this activity alongside the "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman book study, but this can be used in word study, at Halloween, or as an easy sub plan!
I don't know what it is about kids, but they just love talking about creepy stuff! Your students will enjoy using their creativity to express their understanding!
