Description

Science Tasks with Otis & Flask were designed by teachers, for teachers...as centers to reinforce science concepts in grades 3-6. These centers include Teacher Background information, Task Cards for each center that provide information for the student, photocopy-ready student packet pages which many include student observation sheets, data sheets, student readings, vocabulary, and assessment items. An answer key is also included.

The Teacher Guide for all the centers is available as a FREE download. This gives detailed information about the set-up of each center, and content addressed in each center as well.

IN THIS CENTER:
Students will investigate and classify the type of change in two different mini-experiments. In the first experiment students will combine a small piece of Alka-Seltzer and vinegar and identify characteristics (bubbling, formation of a gas at room temperature) that would classify
the process as a simple chemical change. In the second experiment, students separate iron filings from sand using a magnet and classify the mixing of the sand and iron as a physical change.
