This is a fun activity that will teach students the Frisbee backhand throw. Depending on student skill level you may want to practice a basic Frisbee grip before getting started. I divide students into six groups (lines) and have them walk up to our first line, one student at a time. They attempt to knock down bowling pins with instructions from the Learning Plan. As I monitor student success rates, I may move the line back (by using cones) for subsequent rounds for a greater challenge. After a few rounds, we have competitive rounds. The gymnasium is divided in half (three teams on each side). After each wave of students, we keep score on a scoreboard. One pin knocked down equals one point. Team with most points after everyone has had a turn wins.
My Lesson Plan includes: Unit of Study, Lesson Topic, Learning Objective, National Physical Education Standard, Vocabulary, Materials, Motivation, Prerequisite Skills, Learning Plan, Higher Order Thinking Questions, Differentiated Instruction, Closure and Assessment.
