One skill that all students need to learn/master is to tie their sneakers in kindergarten or first grade. I love to encourage kids by posting their names on the wall. Once they can tie their sneaker and a friend’s sneaker, they become a sneaker star. After the first month of school I no longer tie sneakers. I just ask the few or the group that already know how to help a friend (and to teach them). I designate two or three areas “out of bounds” in the gym for tying sneakers.
Included are: two adorable sneaker stars, a sign to display the sneaker stars, designated shoe tying areas, a help sign for those students who have not mastered the skill yet, along with some thumbs up and larger sneakers for decorating.
