Archipelago – A chain of islands
Fjord – Long narrow arm of the sea bordered by steep cliffs
Delta – Area at the mouth of a river made by deposits of sediment
Steppe – Flat grassland; prairie
Moor – Open and uncultivated land; overgrown with shrubs and often with poor drainage
Bayou – Marshy inlet of boggy and stagnant water
Strait – A narrow body of water connecting two larger bodies of water
Plateau – A large area of elevated flat land
Atoll – A ring shaped reef or island made of coral
Butte – Small isolated hill or low mountain rising abruptly above the surrounding land with a flattened top
Panhandle – Narrow projection of land from a larger territory
Inlet – A small arm of the sea
Lagoon – Area of shallow water separated from the sea by low sandy dunes
Isthmus – a narrow strip of land bordered on both sides by water that connects to a larger landmass
Mesa – Medium height hill or mountain rising abruptly above the surrounding land with a flat top
