This is a brief lesson used in 4th grade to introduce students the physical properties of rocks and minerals. It includes images (as well as image credits at the end of the lesson as all images came from a Google search). Each slide can be printed to make posters or to use as part of your science word wall, which is how I use them. I have also printed them in booklets in the past for students to use as study guides or reference tools.
This lesson covers 4.P.2.2: Explain how minerals are identified using tests for the physical properties of hardness, color, luster, cleavage, and streak.
I can classify and determine features of rocks and minerals.
