This lesson is designed to introduce students to the physical regions of Canada.
By the end of the lesson students should be able to explain the following terms and concepts associated with regions: biomes, boundaries, region, and transition zone. They will also be able to identify and list a few characteristics of the six physical regions of Canada: The North, The Cordillera, The Plains, The Shield, Great Lakes St. Lawrence, The Atlantic Region.
I have included a fill-in-the-blanks worksheet so that students can follow along with the lesson as well as have a study sheet to go back and review later. As well, there is a writing activity in which students decide which physical region they would like to live in and why they believe this region might be more suited to them than the others.
I hope this product provides a launching point for you and your students exploration of the physical regions of Canada.
File formats: the lesson is provided in .pptx, .ppt, and .pdf format, however please note that text is not editable. The worksheet and writing activity are in .pdf format. The files are bundled together in a .zip file which you receive upon download. Please ensure you have the correct system to open these file formats prior to purchase.
