Product Description
Hands-on (kinesthetic / tactile) science activity for middle and high school students. Teacher prints and cuts cards for collaborative pair groups. Students interact with peers as they discuss and debate whether each example is a physical or chemical change. Inform students that they will have 5 minutes, and set a timer. Circulate to keep students on task. Do not immediately tell students whether cards are sorted correctly. Ask probing questions. After 5 minutes, review correct answers with students. Teacher may add discussion of each item during review. Have students create a T-chart of the examples within their science notes. Teacher may create one copy per student for use with interactive notebooks. May be used as a science center activity. Developed for North Carolina Science Standard 8.P.1.3.
