What are some ways you can tell if a chemical reaction has taken place?
In this lab experiment, student groups will rotate through eight lab stations and examine eight different reactions. Students will follow the directions listed on station cards, make qualitative observations, and identify whether a physical or chemical change has taken place.
The day prior to the lab activity, I use a PowerPoint presentation to introduce the lab, discuss the basic procedure and have the students record the chemicals that will be used at each station.
On day two and day three students will work at the lab stations, answer analysis questions, and reflect on their understanding of the material.
