Students in physical science and introductory unit chemistry often need help defining, classifying, identifying, and distinguishing physical and chemical changes. This activity helps students better understand the aforementioned learning targets through skills practice and application. Students identify 36 scenarios as being physical or chemical changes in nature. They then define each type of change and describe patterns that profile each one. The student handout is two pages. It starts out with an introductory paragraph that provides background information. A two-page color coated answer key is provided.
