The Adding Multiple Vectors handouts and software are designed to allow students to 1) practice graphically adding a number of North, South, East, and West vectors by drawing the vectors on graph paper head to tail, 2) realizing that the graphically determined resultant’s components are equal to those that would be calculated by adding the original vectors in the East & West and the North and South direction, and 3) calculate the final resultant mathematically. This process is enhanced by using the included Adding Multiple Vectors software which allows students to draw the vectors on the computer screen or ideally on a Smartboard.
The following handouts in both Word and PDF format are included:
• A list of objectives for the lesson
• A handout with a set of five multiple vector addition problems
• The software has these five problems programmed in along with
• Answer keys for the five handout problems
• An answer key for what a student’s graph for problem 1 should
• Suggested graph paper to use
• Instructor’s notes including this info and additional comments
The handouts are downloaded as an addmultvectdemo.exe file which will install the software and all of the Word and PDF docs in the c:\multsci\addmultvectors directory unless you select otherwise during installation.
