This planning guide is a single unit (IS6) planning guide is to be utilized in developing 1 of 6 units for a yearlong introductory high school physics course that uses *Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) modified domains model. The modified domains model organizes the performance expectations into typical biology, chemistry, and physics but with Earth science incorporated into each domain.
Each unit is broken into 3-5 separate sections. At the beginning of each unit is the a short synopsis of the unit, essential questions, scientific and engineering practices (SEPs), and cross cutting concepts (CCC) for the unit. The next page breaks down the unit into sections with the performance expectation (PEs) for that section. The beginning of each section has the PE, summary and blank space for any labs and/or phenomena and vocabulary that will be utilized for that unit. The 2nd page of each section contains the corresponding science and engineering practices (SEPs), disciplinary core ideas (DCIs), cross cutting concepts (CCCs), and the DCIs for middle school that the students should have learned. The 3rd page for each section contains the PE, the evidence statements for that PE, and black space to plan out activities, labs, etc. for a 5E lesson outline. The 4th page is space for more in-depth plan for a 5E lesson with space for supplies.
The layout of the different performance expectations are a suggestion and can be moved around as necessary.

IS2 covers the following PEs: HS-PS2-4, HS-ESS1-4, HS-PS2-4, HS-PS2-6
IS3 covers the following PEs: HS-ESS3-5, HS-PS2-5, HS-PS3-1, HS-PS3-2, HS-PS3-3
IS4 covers the following PEs: HS-PS1-8, HS-ESS1-5, HS-ESS1-6, HS-ESS2-1
IS5 covers the following PEs: HS-PS4-1, HS-PS4-2, HS-PS4-3, HS-PS4-4, HS-PS4-5
IS6 covers the following PEs: HS-ESS1-1, HS-ESS1-2, HS-PS1-3
