Physics Project: Balloon Powered Car
can be found in my TPT store. After students test their cars, collect data, and apply the physics learned in the unit I have a fun day of competition where students can enter their cars in three events. There are three additional events that I determine when grading the cars. When discussing the project I share with my students that we will have a competition and what the events will be.
--Best Trick Car (sometimes the car doesn't perform like it should during testing but it can do a cool trick)
--Best Theme Car (voted on by teacher- sometimes students will decorate their car with a theme)
--Most Creative Car (voted on by the teacher- most creative use of materials and thinking outside the box)
--Best in Show (voted on by the teacher- best overall car in terms of how it functions, creativity, how it was assembled)
*To go along with the awards, I usually have some sort of a prize for the first place winners.
