This powerpoint discusses the muscles. It talks about all types of muscles - smooth, skeletal, and cardiac. It focuses on the skeletal muscle anatomy, sliding filament theory, and contraction-excitation coupling. It discusses the difference between skeletal muscle and smooth muscle contraction. This chapter also talks about the mechanisms of movement or how the muscles and bones act as a lever and fulcrums. This section also discusses how its possible for a muscle to create force but no movement. Lastly, the cardiac muscle is discussed, but not at length. The cardiac muscle is taught in detail in the chapter on the circulatory system. Each slide has speaker notes and there are review questions at the end to be used as a review or exam questions! Happy teaching!
