This powerpoint is broken down into energy in biological systems, chemical reactions, enzymes, and metabolism. Energy in biological systems discusses energy as work, potential and kinetic energy and the first and second laws of thermodynamics. In chemical reactions activation energy, exergonic reactions, and endergonic reactions are taught. The enzymes section talks about the common reactions in the body such as oxidation-reduction reactions. The metabolism section goes through glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, and the electron transport chain, but only briefly. It also reviews the process of making protein, from DNA to the final product.
Each slide has speaker notes where you can pick and chose what you want to say. There are review questions at the end to be used as a review or exam questions! Some have asterisk on them to be used as short answer questions. Happy teaching!
