Pi day is celebrated every year on March 14th (3.14) which showcases the first three digits of Pi. You can even eat pie at 1:59 in the afternoon to get a few more digits (3.14159).
Pi is the ratio of a circles circumference to its diameter and is useful in many geometric relationships. While Pi does not appear in Common Core until grade 7 teachers can use fun Pi day activities to open a conversation about Pi, it's history, what rational vs. non-rational numbers are, decimal points, etc.
Thie download includes four printables to use in a math lesson or activity table on Pi day:
Graphing Pi on a circular chart
Coloring Pi by number
Finding your name in Pi
Take a random walk with Pi
Add on to this unit by baking, or eating pie as you have fun with these activities!
