Welcome to Pi Day! This download includes 8 activities to use as math stations for students to learn and explore about the number Pi. The hands on stations allow students to discover how the number Pi is a ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. I use this with my 6th grade students on Pi Day each year. The learning aligns with the 7th grade standard CCSS.7.G.B.4. The focus is on understanding Pi and working with circumference. Students do not need prior knowledge of Pi to use this material. Students will not use area of circles or surface area/volume of cylinders in these activities.
Included in the download are a 5 page student activity hand-out and 6 pages of directions to place at each station and to guide teachers for the set-up of Pi Day. Everything you need for Pi Day is included, except the actual pie!
