These activities were created for an all-day Pi Day celebration. I will continue to add to this packet. The activities in this packet include:
MAKING PI DAY BLING - Students follow directions to make a color-coded Pi Numeral Necklace or Bracelet using ten different colors of beads.
DECORATING A LARGE PI SYMBOL –This can be added to the Pi Bling Necklace or displayed in the room.
LISTING: THINGS THAT ARE ROUND – Students list as many round things as they can in a certain number of minutes (you decide how long).
PI DAY SING-ALONG – Pi Day Songs
PI DAY JOKES – 14 Pi Day Jokes (created by my students) and room to write new Pi Day jokes.
PIDIOMS (Pi Idioms) - Students can play a concentration game or memory game with Pi(e) idioms and their meanings. Pages are included for students to draw the figurative meanings of some Pi(e) idioms and then write the literal meaning.
DISCOVERING PI – After reading Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi, students measure various round objects to learn the value of Pi.
PI(E) IN THE SKY: MAKING CATAPULTS – Students work in groups to create catapults using three selected materials. The groups will hurl cream pies (shave cream in sampling cups) to become distance champs or accuracy champs. A certificate is provided.
