In this activity students will search your classroom, the entire school or even their house to measure circular objects. After finding different circular items they will then measure the diameter and circumference of the objects. Once measurements are made students will divide the circumference by the diameter of each object (which is the pi ratio). In addition, students have reflection questions to answer after their hunt for pi is complete.

Included are three different worksheet options for you to use with your students:

  • Scavenger Hunt #1: Students search for 10 different circular items of their choice. *Also included is a page with 5 items to find.
  • Scavenger Hunt #2: Student search for specific items that are typically found in a school.
  • Search for Pi Stations: You would set up specific circular items as stations for your students to measure. This would make grading a breeze!
  • Reflection Questions are also included and would apply to any of the above options!

This activity can be used during class time, math stations or learning centers or as enrichment.
