The progress sheet is to help teachers, students, and parents keep track of what the students are learning and at what pace. In learning to play music on the piano, certain disciplines and skills may be called upon or may need to be developed.
The disciplines include preparedness and perseverance (patiently pushing forward with determination). Although students may not always seem prepared for a lesson, perseverance may still help the student to progress, especially if they are attentive.
Skills to be developed gradually over time include ear training, kinesthetic awareness (in this case students sensing over which keys the fingers are placed without having to look often at hands while playing), independence of fingers and hands, eye-finger coordination, and sense of beat.
