The Meridee Winters Note Quest - Notereading Games collection features over 50 pages of vibrant, effective and FUN note reading games. They are great way to strengthen note reading and sight reading skills, since students are not just intellectually learning the tried and true mnemonic devices (“Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge”, etc.) but drilling and internalizing them. This does away with the need to point and count line by line or space by space to figure out a note name.
These games can be played in a variety of ways, from the most popular option – timing yourself on the page and trying the beat a previous record – to the teacher naming a note and a student finding each occurrence on the “planet.” See the table of contents for more great ways to play, or make your own!
This collection also includes templates for making your own planets, so custom tailor your version to your students’ needs, and of course… have fun!
I hope you enjoy my creative music teaching materials!
