Don’t you hate it when you tell your students you are giving them a task in which they will be in partners, and instantly you have 24 students looking every which way to find a partner, and not paying attention to any other instructions you are giving them? The Partner Color Wheel will alleviate some of that stress!
On the first day of school, give each student a color wheel. Start with the color red. Have them go around the room and find one person to be their red partner for the year. Student A writes his name on Student B’s wheel in the “Red Partner” spot and Student B writes her name on Student A’s “Red Partner” spot. Continue doing this until each color space is filled up.
Now, throughout the year, when you are giving students a partner activity, simply tell them to “get with your green color partner!” There’s no longer any worry about who they will partner with…they just get their color wheel out and partner up!
A large wheel (assembly required) is also included along with a spinning arrow that you may post on the wall. Put each of the four pieces together and laminate to make a large wall poster. Attach spinner with a brass fastener. Now you can spin to decide which color partner the students will have!
