Product Description
Looking for a cute, fun way to group students with no hurt feelings? This adorable set of idioms is the perfect fit for cooperative learning. Easily group students in groups of 2 or 3 using these common idioms and pictures! Simply print onto cardstock and laminate for durability. Put all of the cards into a container and let students draw one card. No peeking!

Idioms Include:

all ears
apple of my eye
break a leg
cat’s got your tongue
cold feet
cost an arm and a leg
crying over spilled milk
crying your eyes out
feeling blue
head in the clouds
zip your lips
let the cat out of the bag
lose my head
money talks
on cloud nine
open a can of worms
out on a limb
raining cats & dogs
tickled pink
time flies
2 heads are better than 1
walking on eggshells
when pigs fly
written all over your face

There are 24 idiom cards to choose from. Paired with the picture cards, that is enough for 48 students (24 pairs). Use only as many as you need. Change it up each time!

For groups of 3, I have provided bonus cards with the idiom meaning/definition. Use these in addition to the set above to easily match students into small groups.

Groups of 3 would look like this:
all ears + picture card + ready to listen
apple of my eye + picture card + favorite person
break a leg + picture card + good luck
cat's got your tongue + picture card + refusing to talk
etc.

Used this way, you would have 72 total cards to choose from.(24 groups of 3)

Alternately, if you want to use the idiom cards and the definition cards, you could use the picture cards for showing students who to look for! For ex: Hold up the "out on a limb" picture card so that the students who draw "out on a limb" and "in a position without any help" know they go together.
