Picking Popcorn Games
This item includes 3 games in 1!! There is a set of capital letters, lowercase letters and numbers 1-20. These can be used as centers, busy bags or a class wide game. I have also included a colored set and a black and white set of each game. The games are designed to help students with letter and number recognition as well as learning the differences between capital and lowercase letters.
Preparation: Print on construction paper or cardstock for long lasting results. I personally like to mix yellow and white paper so that it looks more like popcorn. Cut along the dotted lines to form squares of paper. Crumple each piece of paper to form individual pieces of popcorn. Fill a bucket with your popcorn.
You can adapt this to your classroom however you would like. This is how I have played the game with my class:
Have students choose a piece of popcorn and gently unfold the paper to reveal their letter/number. Have the student share their letter/number with the class. If they say the correct letter/number, they keep their piece of popcorn. Once we reach the bottom of the bucket, whoever has the most popcorn pieces is the winner! As the students progress, I begin to mix the capital and lowercase letters and the added challenge is telling the class if their letter is capital or lowercase.
