Let’s go on a Pattern Picnic!!! In this game students will want to avoid the picnic basket that the ants have gotten into! First, they will pick a basket. If the ants aren’t there, then they’ll read the pattern and collect the food card. If they choose the basket that the ants got into then they need to “compose” themselves by writing an 8-beat pattern for their class to read. (This can be done as a team or as individuals). The composition sheet is included- this can be written on in pencil or pen or you can laminate and use vis-a-vis markers for longer use.
There are two versions of the game included in this file: one written in stick notation with note heads and one written in stick notation without note heads.
Rhythms included in this set:
ta (quarter note)
ti-ti (eighth notes)
tika-tika (sixteenth notes)
tika-ti (two sixteenth notes-one eighth note)
syncopa (one eighth-one quarter-one eighth)
tam-ti (dotted quarter-eighth note)
ti-tam (eighth note-dotted quarter note)
