Do you have kiddos in your room who scribble to finish quickly or who seem to draw a circle for every picture? I've had lots of those kiddos in my class too! One way to encourage children to do their best work is to create an anchor chart of your expectations!
This anchor chart uses I Can statements to help children create meaningful illustrations and practice fine motor skills by drawing and coloring. There are matching examples and non-examples for each of the statements so little ones know what you expect. Six diferent I Can statements are included, but you could use fewer if you have younger students.
There are also 2 practice printables with a self-check assessment. These can be used for any activity when drawing would be an appropriate response, such as draw rhyming words, draw animals in the forest, draw nouns at our school, draw sets of ten, etc.
