Picture books can be excellent tools for analyzing author’s craft, author's purpose, figurative language, parts of speech, and literary elements. This packet covers all of these topics while also engaging students in the joy of reading picture books!

This picture book evaluation packet begins with a word sort review, followed by worksheets that guide your students through an in-depth text analysis of a picture book.

This packet of close reading worksheets can be used with either nonfiction or fiction books. You can use all of the worksheets together or one at a time. The questions included require higher-order analysis, synthesis of concepts learned, and creative thinking. It is an ideal resource for distance learning because students can evaluate picture books they have at home! This packet can be used over and over again to engage your students in the practice of close reading and analyzing author's craft!

This product includes:

  • 6 Printable Close Reading/Text Analysis Worksheets for students to complete (Digital Edition- Google Drive and printable black & white version included for easy printing)
