Teachers: Do your students struggle with
dialogue and using quotation marks?
I know mine sure do! This year I did this fun
activity with my kids to help them understand
where to put quotation marks.
Makes a fun bulletin board or wall display!
Directions: Gather appropriate magazines
(I used animals). Have students find a picture
of at least 2 animals or people in it. They cut it
out and then glued it to a piece of construction
paper. Then they wrote a sentence or two
about the dialogue the characters could be
having based on what was in the picture on a
scrap piece of paper. After I proofread the
sentences, I gave them a sentence strip to write
their final copy on. They attached their
sentence strip to the bottom of the
construction paper. We shared them with the
class and then I hung them in the hall.
