How I use these Piggy Banks ...
My students use these to store the reward money they earn from me. They can earn money for any reason you see fit! Students earn money towards different prizes/privileges in the classroom. For example, 15 minutes of free iPad time may cost $1.00 and taking your shoes off for the day may cost 50 cents. This is a great behavior management technique but is also great for reinforcing counting money & coin recognition skills.
My students must be able to count their prize money to the "banker" properly before they can cash in their money. Just as they would have to do in real life. I have also included the "Touch Coin" math reference label to attach to the bottom of the containers. This allows students to spread their money out on their desks and flip over their containers for a quick reference if they need it. This definitely comes in handy!
These labels are completely editable so you may use whichever fonts you choose. If you like the fonts I used, refer to the credits page for a list of fonts. All the fonts I used are free on TPT. I have include 3 different versions of the labels so you can choose to between putting the student's name, number, or written number on the front.
I hope your students can benefit from these "piggy banks" as much as mine have!
