This is a great game to add to your classroom! There are two versions available, depending on what skill your students are working on. The first version is with a numbered spinner so the students can work on adding homogeneous groups of coins or bills (all pennies, all nickels, all one dollar bills, etc.). The second version can be used to count mixed groups of coins or bills.
Students begin play by spinning a paperclip on the spinner you chose/provided. They put whatever it lands on into the bank. For example, if they spin a "4", they put 4 of whatever the focus coin is in their piggy bank. For the other spinner, if the spinner lands on a dime, they place a dime in their bank. You can have students count and record the amount of money that is in their bank after each spin. A recording sheet is provided. If a student spins a hammer 3 times, their bank is broken and they must return all of their money!
This is a really great activity and my students all enjoy playing! For extended use, I print my materials on card stock and laminate.
