I always get excited when I assign this activity for my middle school students as a complement to my dialogue instruction! This activity begins by introducing Sharona and Dave, two pigs who have been set up on a blind date. Students soon come to find that these two barnyard swine display EXTREME personalities on opposite ends of the spectrum. The assignment is to correct the dialogue punctuation (commas, quotation marks) in the pre-written beginning of the tale, and then finish the story of this fateful date using their own creative minds and plenty of dialogue. My students always enjoy this assignment, and I can almost promise you that yours will as well. The lesson can easily be extended over two days, and the original document contains colorful language that could be effortlessly compiled into a vocabulary list for the week. Teacher instructions included. Created by "That Teacher."
