This is a FREE fast-paced and exciting game that practices recognizing numbers in more than one way and subitizing to 5. This game is perfect for a guided math lesson or to put in a math station or center. (CCSS K.CC.4a, K.CC.4b, K.CC.4c, K.CC.5)
Directions: Divide the cards into two stacks (one stack for the pig cards and one stack for the remaining cards). Place the stack of pig cards face down in front of the teacher or designated “caller.” Distribute the remaining cards evenly amongst all players. Players should leave their cards face up in front of them. The teacher flips over a card, one at a time, and shows it to the players. Players look for a card that shows the same amount as on the pig card. If the player has a card of the same amount, he/she should slap the card and say “Poof!” If correct, the cards are matched and set aside. The first player to “poof” all of his/her cards is the winner.
