As a supplement to a classroom pilgrim simulation, this Smartboard file is a game-like version of the Mayflower crossing. Student teams (colonists) race against the journey the original pilgrims took. The sooner teams get to the New World, the sooner they can find building materials and food before winter sets in. In order to progress, teams "flip a coin" by using the Smartboard digital coin flipper. The results tell if the ship progresses forward, veers off course and loses time, or does not make any progress. During the time they are interacting with this file, only the captain and navigator can leave their 6' x 3' section of classroom (ship space).
