Little ones will love this hands on activity! This one time prep resource will have them counting things from 0-20, working with the alphabet, pinning vowel sounds in CVC words and beginning consonant sounds. They can work on these skills during small groups or at center time. To make this a self checking activity, place a dot or small sticker on the answer on the back of each card before laminating. (You will need plenty of clothes pins.)
Common Core Standards
RF.K.1 Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print.
RF.K.1d Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.1 (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)
RF.K.3b Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels.
K.CC.B.4 Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
K.CC.B.4.a When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
K.CC.B.4.c Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.
K.CC.B.4.b Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
