Thumbtack tacking (push pin) activities are great for fine motor skills, eye hand coordination and learning about shapes. These activities are easy to set up as a station or whole class project. They are fabulously fun and the kids love to display their finished product in the window. Some students refer to it as poking.
Place tacking (pinning) activity on top of colored construction paper and either staple or paperclip together. Student places on soft surface such as carpet or cork board. Then use a thumbtack or push pin to poke through both papers. After the design has been poked, take the top sheet off and the design will shine through the construction paper.
